Yanmin Zhu is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received his PhD from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in July 2007.
Alberto Leon-Garcia is Distinguished Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. He is currently Scientific Director of the NSERC Strategic Network for Smart Applications on Virtual Infrastructures.
Short Description of the area
This area solicits new research results on IOT and Smart Cities. A core Smart City challenge is the management of large-scale infrastructures (transportation networks, power grids, air quality, water systems, etc.) to mediate between resource availability and the demand generated by consumers. A key requirement for this management system is availability of real-time and historical information to drive the intelligence required to achieve global objectives. In conjunction with computing and networking, IOT plays a crucial role in the gathering of resource state information as well as in the execution of actions dictated by the management system. Within this scope, we invite the submission of papers that cover new developments in theory, algorithms, modelling and analysis, design, experimentation, testbeds, and other related creative endeavors.
