Cnet 2011
Call for Papers
September 9, 2011
San Francisco, USA

General Information
Cnet 2011 is the first workshop at ITC on complex network theory and its application to communication engineering. The concept is arising from random graph theory and statistical physics and constitutes a very important, rapidly growing branch of modern teletraffic theory.
The workshop will cover all aspects of modeling, analysis, and control of complex infrastructures ranging from purely theoretical achievements to practical applications regarding the design of next generation networks.
The objective is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners working in different disciplines to present innovative theoretical results and to illustrate recent development regarding modeling and analysis tools to detect complex structures nd to control them in a decentralized or self-organized manner. Fresh ideas will be exchanged and open problems and new directions will be discussed.
The workshop is co-located with the 23rd International Teletraffic Congress (ITC 2011).
Topics
Cnet 2011 solicits novel unpublished material on modeling, analysis and control of complex networks including (but not limited to) the following topics:
Modeling and Analysis of Communication Infrastructures
- analysis of random graph models and multiplicative stochastic processes
- percolation properties of equilibrium and growing networks
- characterization, inference and evolution of topologies
- robustness and vulnerability of network infrastructures
- influence and epidemic spreading in complex networks
- investigation of scalability properties
- algebraic and graph-theoretical partitioning techniques and spectral optimization of modularity concepts
- formation of communities and their algorithmic detection
Control of Complex Networks
- emergence properties of real networks
- control methods and algorithms for complex networks
- synchronization in complex networks
- signaling and distributed control protocols
Inference and Design Algorithms for NGNs
- inference of complex network properties in deployed infrastructures
- structural inference and analysis of the user behavior in social networks
- immunization strategies for NGNs
- tools supporting analysis, inference and prediction of complex networks
Submissions
Authors should prepare a PDF version of their paper not exceeding 8 double-column pages in IEEE conference format with a font size not smaller than 10 points. They should submit the paper electronically before the deadline via EDAS at URL:
http://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=10395
Notification of acceptance will be send to the authors not later than July 1, 2011. In case of acceptance the final (Postscript or PDF) version of the full paper is due by July 15, 2011.
All accepted contributions will appear as full papers in the conference proceedings and require a registration of at least one co-author as workshop participant before the deadline.
It is planned to consider extended versions of the papers for publication in the journal ''Computer Communications''.
Camera-Ready Paper
Authors of accepted contributions are asked to prepare the camera-ready version of their papers following the reviewers comments. They are requested to proceed as follows:
- Improve your manuscript according to the reviewers' comments.
- Follow the formatting instructions of ITC at URL:
- The page length is limited to 8-pages in the IEEE double-column format using IEEE Conference Proceeding templates. For IEEEtran class in LaTeX, use the following as the first line in your LaTeX source file:
- \documentclass[10pt, conference]{IEEEtran}
(Note: with IEEE conferences, the author affiliation is listed under the author's name, unlike IEEE transactions)
- Go to IEEE PDF eXpress Website (cf. www.pdf-express.org)
- Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account
(use conference ID: itc2011x ; use 'new user' if you haven't used this site before.).
o Use IEEE PDF eXpress to check if your PDF file is Xplore-compliant, OR, else, you can use this site to convert your source files into an IEEE Xplore-compliant PDF file (e.g., for LaTeX users, create a zip file that includes dvi and your eps figure files all together, and then upload the zip file for the system to convert into a compliant PDF file; for MSWord users, upload the Word file and let it convert and return a compliant PDF file)
- Upload the Xplore-compliant PDF file by July 15, 2011 to the EDAS system at http://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=10395
(If you get any warning when uploading to EDAS, please ignore as long as the file has already passed the above PDF eXpress compliance test.)
- Download and complete the 'Copyright Form' (Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word DOC).
Please sign, scan and upload to EDAS. Please submit the signed copyright form by July 15, 2011.
- At least one author of the paper must register at the full registration rate of the workshop (or jointly with the ITC conference).
The full rate is USD 350 for ComSoc/IEEE/ACM/SIGCOMM members, and USD 400 for Non-members by the early registration deadline.
Once you're at your paper page in EDAS, click on the green button next to 'Registration' and follow the steps. Please complete the registration by July 15, 2011.
Note that the final acceptance is conditioned on that (i) the paper is updated according to the comments of the reviewers and on that (ii) at least one of the authors registers for the workshop or jointly for the conference-plus-workshop rate before the early registration deadline: July 15, 2011.
If you need an invitation letter to apply for a US visa, you must pay your conference registration to generate the invitation letter for you.
Thus, we encourage you to complete this item as soon as possible.
Registration
The registration and payment issues will be managed by the organization of ITC 2011. The registration deadline of the workshop is set to July 15, 2011.
