(Panelist) Mark Bass is the Senior Director of the Bell Laboratories Business Modeling Center. His Organization is a multidisciplinary team of consultants with technical, business analysis, operational, marketing, and analytical expertise. His Team works with service providers and enterprises to examine their specific business and network issues to recommend solutions that meet their business objectives. They provide business support planning for the introduction of voice and data services, with an emphasis on revenue maximization for targeted market segments and strategic infrastructure investment to minimize risk. Mark's Team also applies its business modeling analysis, insights, and learnings to support new product, service and solution investment decisions.

Mark has more than 25 years of experience with Bell Laboratories, with previous experiences in Business Reengineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Transmission Systems Engineering, and Switching Systems Forecast Management. He graduated from Cornell University with both a Masters and Bachelors degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering. He also holds a Certificate from the Wharton School for the completion of their Executive Development Program.

 

(Panelist) Mung Chiang is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University, and currently serves as the Director of Graduate Studies in Electrical Engineering. His research on networking received awards such as the IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award and the U.S. Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. His technology transfer resulted in 5 issued patents, several commercial adoptions, and the Technology Review TR35 Award. He founded the Princeton EDGE Lab, and is a cofounder or an advisor of a few startups. He is writing an upcoming undergraduate textbook ?20 Questions About Networked Life?. (Panelist) Ramesh Johari is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University, with a full-time appointment in the Department of Management Science and Engineering (MS&E), and courtesy appointments in the Departments of Computer Science (CS) and Electrical Engineering (EE). He is a member of the Operations Research group in MS&E, and the Information Systems Laboratory in EE. He received an A.B. in Mathematics from Harvard (1998), a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics from Cambridge (1999), and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT (2004). Neal is Founding Executive Director of the NYC Media Lab, which facilitates interaction between the City?s more than 100 institutions of higher education and 10,000 media and technology companies. A veteran digital media executive, Neal served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of BusinessWeek Digital from 2006 to 2009, where he launched BusinessWeek?s Company Insight Center, led an investment in LinkedIn, and built an award-winning content sharing platform, Business Exchange. (Moderator) Iraj Saniee is a Research Director at Bell Laboratories, Alcatel-Lucent, in Murray Hill, New Jersey, USA. Over the past two decades, he has conducted research and worked on development of software and systems for analysis, design, control and optimization of communication networks. Prior to Bell Labs and until 1998, he was a director in the Information Sciences Laboratory at Bellcore in Morristown, NJ, USA.  He received his PhD in operations research and control theory from the University of Cambridge. Dr. Saniee has been a member of INFORMS (since 1985), an Edelman Finalist (1994), and Chair of Telecom Section (2002-2004).
