Travel Grant for Canadian Students
ITC-20 Commemorative Travel Grant for ITC 2011 (ITC-23)
Since 1955, the ITC has been a major international conference for professionals in the discipline of using quantitative methods to optimize the performance, scalability and reliability in the planning, design, and operation of state-of-the?art communication networks. Due to the success of ITC-20 held in Ottawa on June 17-21, 2007, the ITC-20 Organizing Committee has established the ITC-20 Commemorative Travel Grant for each of the subsequent three ITCs. The purpose of the grant is to encourage Canadian graduate students to participate in ITC. Each grant is worth CAD$2,500 to help cover the conference registration fee and travel expenses. Grants were awarded for ITC-21 and ITC-22. This announcement is for the last available grant to be used for attending ITC-23.
To be considered for the travel grant, the candidate must:
- Be a full-time graduate student in a Canadian university.
- Be the primary or first author of a paper submitted to ITC-23. Only one paper per candidate is considered.
- Notify the ITC-20 Organizing Committee, not later than February 7, 2011, of the intention to compete for the grant by sending an email message to itc20@sympatico.ca. A PDF version of the submitted paper should also be attached.
The successful recipient of the travel grant will be decided by a selection committee [Prof. Lorne Mason (Chair), Dr. James Yan, and Dr. Tadeusz Drwiega]. The winning paper will be based on:
- How well the paper illustrates the innovative use of quantitative modelling to plan and design state-of-the-art communication networks.
- How well the paper?s concepts and results are developed and interpreted.
The winning author will be notified via email on or before May 20, 2011. Please note that receiving the travel grant does not guarantee that the recipient?s paper will be accepted for ITC-23. Although acceptance by the ITC-23 TPC is not required, accepted papers are given priority.
